Stabilization of the riparian and upper slope is important for the viability of oyster habitat and farming. Much of Rhode Island's coastline is developed - historical, industrial and residential.
This is the beginning of an investigation in how a Geogrid form and planting strategy can be implemented by homeowners on private property (eventually possible test on public property) to prevent siltation and increase a healthy stabilization of Rhode Island's coast into the inter-tidal zone, while providing access as well as a future habitat for oyster populations and the ecosystem they support.
What unique opportunities does this provide for the homeowner?
